EasySSH 1.7.9

EasySSH is a free, open-source, and very easy-to-use SSH manager for Linux. While it won’t convince Linux purists to renounce the beloved command line, it will for sure help newer or beginner users get a solid handle on managing multiple SSH connections. And, mind you, it even has a built-in Terminal of its own.

So, how good is EasySSH? The short answer is – pretty good.

Reasons you might want to use EasySSH

The main reason is, of course, that it helps you manage your SSH connections without having to use the command line. While it might not be as fast as the command line for quick tasks, it will definitely save you some time since it allows you to create any number of connections and even protect your data via a password.

What’s even better, is that it allows you to run multiple instances of the same connection. You’re also provided with various ways to edit said connections, categorize them in groups, customize the built-in terminal’s looks, restore opened hosts, and even toggle between two GUI themes.

Everything is wrapped around in a decent, minimalistic GUI. To get started, simply click the + button in the main window, and fill in all the appropriate information and credentials for your connection.

In short, it’s an app that keeps all your SSH logins saved, so a login is always but a few clicks.

Conclusion

If we were to compare it to other more advanced SSH managers, EasySSH would not fare all that well, as it doesn’t feature all the bells and whistles an expert user might want or need.

Usually, the biggest drawbacks of SSH managers are related to security. If someone is able to get access to your SSH manager would definitely get access to your servers (because username and passwords are saved within it, right?).

It’s a good thing that EasySSH does feature password protection for your data, but we’re not sure exactly what algorithm is used and how safe it actually is.
