Bitnami ProcessWire Stack is a freely distributed and cross-platform software project that greatly simplifies the deployment of the ProcessWire application, as well as of its runtime dependencies, on desktop computers and laptops. It is distributed as native installers, cloud images, a virtual appliance and a Docker container.
What is ProcessWire?
ProcessWire is an open source, platform-independent, free and web-based CMS (Content Management System) application that features a very powerful and intuitive WYSIWYG editor, modern drag’n’drop image storage, support for thousands of web pages, as well as a state-of-the-art plugin architecture.
Installing Bitnami ProcessWire Stack
As mentioned, Bitnami ProcessWire Stack is distributed mainly as native installers, which have been built using BitRock’s cross-platform installer tool and designed for the GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
To install the ProcessWire application and its server-related requirements on your personal computer, you will have to download the file that corresponds to your PC’s hardware architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Running ProcessWire in the cloud
On the other hand, it is possible to run ProcessWire in the cloud, as Bitnami offers pre-build cloud images for the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting providers, which can also be used on your own hosting platform.
Virtualize ProcessWire on VirtualBox and VMware
In addition to running ProcessWire in the cloud and installing it on personal computers, you can virtualize it on top of the Oracle VirtualBox and VMware ESX, ESXi virtualization software, thanks to Bitnami’s virtual appliance based on the latest stable release of the Ubuntu Linux distribution.
The Bitnami ProcessWire Module
Besides the Bitnami ProcessWire Stack product reviewed here, users will also be able to install the ProcessWire application on top of a Bitnami LAMP, WAMP or MAMP stack, without having to deal with its runtime dependencies. Bitnami ProcessWire Module is available for download on Softpedia, free of charge.
