Bitnami Publify Stack provides an all-in-one, free and open source solution for deploying the Publify software and all of its runtime dependencies on a desktop computer or laptop, without the need to know anything about how to install a web server or database engine. It is distributed as native installers, virtual machines and cloud Images, designed to simplify the Publify installation and hosting.
What is Publify?
Publify is an open source web-based application written in Ruby on Rails and designed from the offset as a blogging platform capable of providing custom templates, advanced SEO capabilities, a drag and drop plugins API, XMLRPC API, spam protection, commenting and Ajax-based live search.
Installing Bitnami Publify Stack
Both the Bitnami Publify Stack and the Bitnami Publify Module products are distributed as native installers for all GNU/Linux distributions, as well as the Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems. To install Publify on your computer, download the binary package that corresponds to your computer’s arch (32-bit or 64-bit), run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Run Publify on the cloud
Thanks to Bitnami, users are now able to run Publify on the cloud with their hosting platform or by using a pre-built cloud image offered by Bitnami for the Amazon EC2 and Windows Azure cloud hosting providers. In addition, it is possible to run Publify on a virtual machine, thanks to Bitnami’s VM images for VirtualBox and VMware virtualization software, based on the latest LTS release of Ubuntu Linux (64-bit).
The Bitnami Publify Module
Besides the Bitnami Publify Stack product review here, Bitnami also provides a companion for the Bitnami LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server, which is smaller in size than Bitnami Publify Stack as it does not contains all of its runtime dependencies. The Bitnami Publify Module can be downloaded from Softpedia.
