Epiphany 3.30.2

Epiphany is an open source graphical application that provides web browsing capabilities for the GNOME desktop environment. It can also be used on other desktop environments, as long as its GTK+ requirements are met. Being based on the WebKit rendering engine, Epiphany’s goal is to provide users with a simple and easy-to-use Internet browsing experience. It supports plugins, which will enhance its default functionality.

Its interface uses a very simple design

The GUI (Graphical User Interface) uses a very simple design, being targeted at non-technical users. Just like many other GNOME applications, it follows the latest version of the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) and integrates well with the rest of the desktop environment.

It presents users with a single toolbar that comprises of a location bar, New Tab button, Previous and Next buttons, a gear button that displays the app’s options, and a Close button. From the gear button you can open a new tab or a local file, save the current web page locally or as a web app, view page source, and bookmark the current page.

Offers basic web browsing functionality

In addition, you will be able to use basic text editing functionality, such as copy, paste, cut, undo, redo, search for text, print the current page, change the encoding, as well as to zoom in and zoom out.

Tabbed-browsing experience

The tabs will be displayed automatically right under the main toolbar (only when there are two or more). Also, the New Tab page provides users with modern speed dial functionality, allowing them to quickly access their most favorite websites. Unfortunately, there’s no way to edit or re-organize the thumbnails in the New Tab page.

Designed for GNOME

The application is usually distributed as part of the GNOME desktop environment, but it can be installed as a standalone application on other DEs or window managers. It’s a good web browser, but we strongly recommend to use a more powerful and popular one, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
