Greenie Linux Lite Edition 16.04

Greenie Linux E-book Edition is a freely distributed and open source computer operating system, a special of the Greenie Linux distribution that includes a wide range of applications designed for reading, writing and modifying e-books or any other documents. It is based on the Lubuntu OS and uses LXDE as its default and only desktop environment.

It’s distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD

The E-book Edition of Greenie Linux is distributed as a dual-arch Live DVD ISO image, which means that you can use it on computers supporting either of the 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86_64) instruction set architectures.

How to use the ISO image

You must burn the ISO image onto a blank DVD disc or write on a USB thumb drive of 1GB or higher capacity in order to create a bootable medium that can be booted from the BIOS of your computer.

Boot menu à la Lubuntu

The Live DVD boot menu is identical with the one of Lubuntu, allowing the user to try the operating system without installing anything, start the installer directly, perform a system memory test, check the integrity of the bootable medium (only if booting from a DVD disc) or boot an existing OS from the local drive.

LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) looks great, runs fast

Being based off of Lubuntu, the operating system uses LXDE as its default and only graphical desktop environment. It uses a single-panel layout, looks great and runs fast. The panel can be used to navigate the main menu, launch applications, as well as to interact with opened programs and the system tray area.

Comes pre-loaded with additional tools for reading, writing and modifying everything

To ensure the unicity of the distribution, its developers added the gPDFtext ebook editor, GVim advanced text editor, GWrite simple text editor, Bluefish HTML editor, Geany IDE, Poedit text editor, Calibre e-book library management software, as well as Sigil e-book creator tool.
