Note-taking is definitely a very underrated skill in today’s fast-moving, ever-evolving modern world. Notes boost your understanding, aid your memory, and can be pretty much considered the “GitHub repository” of your thinking.
Regardless of you being a marketing specialist, a student, a top entrepreneur, or an aspiring writer, good notes will most probably help you get closer to your goals.
That’s exactly why taking notes fast and efficiently is very important. nimblenote was designed to help you do just that.
The name says it all
nimblenote stays true to its name, and despite being an Electron-based app, it’s blazing fast. nimblenote is a keyboard-driven note-taking app that allows you to create, edit, delete, and locate notes.
But, here’s the thing: it allows you to do all of the above without ever needing to touch the mouse and with pretty much zero downtimes. This makes it the perfect tool for those who believe that creativity is not really a superpower, it’s just having lots of thoughts and ideas and melding the best ones together.
How it works
Even though it’s primarily designed for power users, who oftentimes appreciate keyboard actions over everything else, the app is remarkably user-friendly.
This is thanks to just how natural the app feels while using it, but also because all the commands and tips and tricks are at your disposal at a moment’s notice (just press “?” in the search field).
Fluidity is definitely something that nimblenote has over other note-taking apps out there. You’ll always follow the same top-to-bottom pattern for adding notes: type in a name for the note (in the Search field at the top), press Enter, the file editor automatically jumps to the file editor, write the content of the note, press Enter once more, and that’s pretty much it.
To view or edit an already existing note, type the name (or a keyword associated with it) in the Search field, and press Enter to resume editing. You can use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate between multiple results.
Ok, what else?
It goes without saying that the app has a built-in autosave feature, which means that you don’t need to worry about notes that are not finished.
The app also boasts support for Markdown. You can toggle checklists, open links, or navigate notes. Another noteworthy feature comes in the form of two GUI modes (Light and Dark).
Verdict
Is nimblenote the best note-taking app out there? In today’s modern world, with our modern needs that include cloud synchronization, and support for storing media with notes, and many others, definitely not.
Be that as it may, nimblenote does its job remarkably well, and there’s probably no better note-taking app to have by your side if you’re in a full-blown brainstorming session, and that says a lot.
