As its name suggests, Robolinux Xfce is a flavor of the Debian-based Robolinux operating system that uses the lightweight Xfce desktop environment instead of GNOME, which is used on the main edition of the distribution.
Supports 32-bit and 64-bit computers
The Xfce edition of Robolinux comes as two Live DVD ISO images of approximately 2GB in size each, one for old 32-bit computers and another one for modern 64-bit machines.
How to use the ISO images
You must download and write the ISO image that corresponds to your computer’s hardware architecture on a DVD disc or USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity in order to boot it from the BIOS of a PC.
You can run the OS in live mode or install it
From the Live DVD boot menu, the user can run the live system without any change to his or her computer or perform a fresh installation, using the built-in graphical installer.
Classic and traditional desktop environment that is low on resources
Being designed to run on computers with no more than 140MB of RAM, this special edition of Robolinux uses Xfce to provide a classic and traditional desktop environment that is low on resources and looks great. It comprises of a single panel that includes the main menu, an application launcher, the taskbar, the desktop switcher and the system tray area.
Comes with numerous drivers, out-of-the-box multimedia codecs and lots of apps
Robolinux Xfce comes with numerous drivers, supporting AMD and Nvidia graphics cards, as well as various wireless cards, out-of-the-box multimedia codecs, and lots of applications and utilities.
Default apps include the Mozilla Firefox web browser, Amarok audio player, VLC Media Player, GIMP image editor, Shotwell image viewer and organizer, Mozilla Thunderbird email and news client, Skype VoIP client, Deluge torrent downloader, Pidgin instant messenger and LibreOffice office suite.
