Serbian GNU/Linux Openbox Edition is the second of two editions of the Serbian GNU/Linux project, a computer operating system derived from the highly acclaimed Debian GNU/Linux distribution, built around the Openbox window manager, and designed for Serbian users.
Distributed as a 32-bit ISO image
The Serbian GNU/Linux distribution is not available for download as a Live CD/DVD, but only an installable ISO image that contains software packages optimized for 32-bit computer platforms. This means that you will have to install the distro on your computer’s disk drive to use it.
Boot options
The ISO image can be written on either a DVD disc or a USB thumb drive of 2GB or higher capacity, in order to boot the operating system from the BIOS of your computer and install it. There are only two options on the boot menu, graphical installer and text-mode installer.
Installing Serbian GNU/Linux Openbox Edition
Of course, we recommend choosing the first option on the boot menu, the graphical installer, which will make the installation a breeze. The installation process will require you to enter a password for the root (system administrator) account, create a new user and set a password for it, partition the disk, and install a bootloader.
Built around the Openbox window manager
As mentioned, the Serbian GNU/Linux Openbox Edition is built around the Openbox window manager, which loads extremely fast and uses a clean layout comprised of a single panel located on the bottom edge of the screen.
Default applications
Default applications include the Iceweasel web browser, VLC Media Player, uGet download manager, Audacious audio player, SMPlayer video player, Osmo calendar application, Xarchiver archive manager, as well as Curlew video converter.
