Adventure List 0.11.0

At first glance, Adventure List is one of the many modern, open-source, and cross-platform task organizers/managers.

Besides all the usual task management actions such as setting due dates for your tasks, recurring due dates, and even adding sub-tasks, Adventure List also provides fast and reliable task synchronization.

Even though the app the app is open-source, it’s powered by Google. More to the point, it uses Google services and relies on your Google account to authenticate your signin session.

This comes with a lot of benefits, but it also means that because the app uses your email address, and is also capable or reading and writing data to your Google Calendars (again, used to synchronize data between devices). In short, some information is collected, all of which is neatly described in the Privacy Policy section.

Based on its name, one can assume that Adventure List is mainly designed to plan your next big life-affirming adventure, or an epic trip. While all that is definitely something Adventure List can handle, it’s also very good at planning just about any task you can think of.

It may not be the most advanced task planner/organizer/manager out there, but it since it works on Windows, Linux, and Android, it’s one of the most versatile (considering that it’s open-source).

One of the best aspects of Adventure List is its GUI. The app has two GUI themes (Dark and Light), but the star of the show is the Desktop Widget mode. This mode allows you to pin your To-Do lists to your computer’s desktop in a stylish manner, with full transparency for the GUI elements.

This alone should make the app quite interesting for those aiming at a streamlined, more professional look for their desktops.

There are still some niggles here and there, especially when it comes to the Android widget (there’s always room for improvement, right?), and the fact that the app doesn’t have a proper offline mode.

The app also doesn’t have a web version, which could potentially save a lot of time when it comes to accessing tasks from other devices.

Nevertheless, Adventure List is still above and beyond most typical open-source task manager/organizers of this sort thanks to its neat Google synchronization, as well as thanks to its unique, stylish, and very functional GUI.
