EasyTAG 2.4.3

EasyTAG is an open source graphical application that allows users to view and edit tags for MP3, MP2, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack, WavPack and Monkey’s Audio files. It supports Linux and Microsoft Windows OSes.

Features at a glance

The program features a simple, easy-to-use and user-friendly interface written in the GTK+ toolkit, which makes audio tagging operations a breeze under GNU/Linux operating systems. With this application you will be able to edit several tag fields, including title, album, artist, year, original artist or performer, composer, track number, disc number, comment, copyright, encoder name, and URL.

Renaming files and folders from the tag is also possible, as well as the ability to browse subdirectories and edit selected audio files of the selected folder. Also, the tagging, renaming, removing and saving operations can be recursive. In addition, users will be able to set a field like title or artist to all other files, undo and redo the last changes made to a file or entire directory, open a file or a folder with an external application, and convert letters into lowercase or uppercase.

Modern CDDB functionality

Another interesting feature is the ability to automate some operations, especially when completing the fields during batch tagging, or completion of the date. Modern CDDB (Compact Disc Database) functionality is integrated in EasyTAG. It uses the Gnudb.org and Freedb.org servers to retrieve information for Audio CDs. The application’s interface features a tree-based browser, a file searching window, a list to select files, and a playlist generator window. It is the most appreciated open source tag editor among the Linux community.

Under the hood and supported OSes

The entire application is written in the C programming language, which means that it can run on both Linux and Windows operating systems, it is translated into many languages, and provides users with many attractive features not found on other similar apps.
