KMyMoney is an open source, free, accurate and easy-to-use application that aims to deliver a personal finance manager for the KDE Plasma desktop environment. It is crafted as a full-featured replacement for your regular Windows-based finance software. It is a full double-entry accounting application that can be used at home for personal money management, or in a small-business environment.

Features at a glance

Key features include support for investments, predefined reports and charts, support for multiple currencies, a GnuCash file converter, support for importing OFX files, web connect support, encryption of the data file through GPG, calculator widget when entering values, online quotes for stocks and currencies, VAT, as well as “Anonymous” file format to assist debugging.

Easy-to-use and straightforward GUI

The software’s GUI (Graphical User Interface) is easy to use and straightforward, specifically designed from the non-technical user. It will display a summary of all your financial transactions, including overdue payments, today’s payments and future payments, as well as a sidebar from where you can access and modify institutions, accounts, categories, payees, ledgers, budgets, forecasts, investments, outbox, as well as to view reports and scheduled transactions.

Under the hood and supported OSes

KMyMoney is written entirely in the C++ programming language and uses the Qt GUI toolkit for its graphical user interface. While it has been specifically designed to run on GNU/Linux distributions under the KDE Plasma desktop environment, it also supports the Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and FreeBSD operating systems.

Supported desktop environments

While the application has been designed from the ground up to be deployed on top of the KDE Desktop Environment, it will also run on other open-source desktops, as well as all of its runtime dependencies are installed. At the moment, it has been successfully tested under 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.

Availability

On GNU/Linux systems, the KMyMoney application is available for download only as a universal sources archive, which means that users will have to configure and compile the project prior to installation. If this is unacceptable to you, please install the application from the default software repositories of your Linux distribution.
