Notepad 1.0.5

Note-taking software has brought the classic practice of note-taking to our computers in digital form. The best thing about taking notes is that the writer records the essence of the information, thus freeing his or her mind from having to recall everything.

Nowadays, we have a lot of options when it comes to note-taking apps. We have them on our phones, on our smart devices, and on our computers. If you’re not keen on having the latest and greatest features at your disposal, and if you’re running Linux on your computer, you might want to check out Notepad.

Super straightforward, no-frills note-taking app

Before anything else, it’s worth noting that Notepad is a WYSIWYG app. There are no extra menus, no impressive features, just a simple toolbar at the top, a note selection pane in the left, and the area for writing notes on the right side of the GUI, and that’s about it.

You can add an unlimited number of notes, all of which are displayed in the app’s main window. From the top toolbar, you can add new news, remove existing ones, as well as save them with default or custom names.

Should you use it?

It’s somewhat of a shame that Notepad doesn’t provide a bit more in terms of features, however, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s useless.

Yes, the ability to create checklists, insert photos,  and customize formatting would have made it a much better app, but if you’re the type of user that likes simple note-taking apps, then Notepad is not a bad choice.

You just open the app, write down whatever you need, save the note, and that’s it, no messing around with menus, or anything of that nature.
